What Planet Are You From?

(Or, What's Your Personality Type?)

Pop psychology or bedrock principle?
Are you a Type T or a Type G? What about your parents, spouse, children, and friends, not to mention your boss and coworkers? Sounds like the latest pop psychology craze? In the case of emotional coping frameworks, however, fact may be more surprising and shocking than fiction.

The Basic Type T and Type G Framework
Type Ts experience positive emotional reactions when taking power, control, attention or things in relationships. They experience negative emotions when having to give.

Type Gs experience just the opposite, yielding authority, control, attention or things in stressful situations. Thus, both types are simply following this universal rule since both will attempt to activate positive and deactivate negative emotions. Of course Type Gs give more than Type Ts since they are the ones who experience more positive and less negative emotions by doing so.

Are Type Ts Bad and Type Gs Good?
One type is no better than the other type since both are following the same universal rule. In therapy, this is very helpful in assisting patients in arriving at forgiveness of others, since there is the realization that others do only that of which they are capable. Additionally, it also leads to the understanding that the best way of dealing with each type in a relationship requires different methods.
